Extreme Weather

In 2016, with funding provided by the Anglian (Eastern) Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, East Suffolk Council purchased 1400m of temporary tidal defences. In the event of a tidal surge, the temporary barriers will be used in conjunction with the completed tidal flood walls to reduce the risk of flooding to the most vulnerable areas of Lowestoft.
